Movember is all about men’s health and for a very important reason. Men on average die 6 years younger than women and for preventable reasons. You read that right – preventable – your life span is in your hands! Men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer tend to be swept under the rug, but early detection and treatment can literally be a life saver. Think about this – There are roughly 9,310 cases of testicular cancer diagnosed each year, but only about 400 men will die from it. Shockingly, the average age at time of diagnosis is only 33 years old and the rate of incidence has been increasing for several decades. During their lifetime, approximately 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, but it only causes death in 1 out of 36 men. These conditions are largely treatable when caught early.
