This holiday season, Ideal Setech employees, Geneva O’Leary, Alina Baciu, Sarah Oumedian, and Kurt Mohrmann, volunteered at the Gleaners Community Food Bank of SE Michigan. Headquartered in Detroit, Gleaners operates five distribution centers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties and provides food to 535 partner soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters and other agencies throughout southeastern Michigan.

With roughly 15 volunteers per shift, the volunteers sorted and packed nonperishable food and fresh produce items. Additionally, volunteers folded plastic food drive bags, picked partner orders, and more!

With it being Gleaners’ busiest time of year, Ideal Setech had the opportunity to volunteer and interact with the families. They helped weigh in their food items, bagged their items, and transported everything to their cars.

Geneva O’Leary said “The hardest thing was telling those families they were over their weight limit that they had to put food items back. It was a very humbling experience and helps you appreciate all that you have and what you may take for granted.”

Happy Holidays!
